Founding and Early Years: The company was founded in 1860 by Jan Koomen in Wadway, North Holland. Initially, it sold seeds, pulses, and grains to local farmers.

Expansion: Successive generations expanded the business, including importing and exporting these materials.

Partnership and Diversification: In 1964, Piet Koomen and Ellen Ellens bought N.V. Folia, a distiller of essential oils, and formed Ellens-Koomen. The company later became Erven Th. Koomen B.V.

Modern Era: In 1995, the company moved to Middenmeer, where it continues to operate today under the leadership of Dick Koomen, focusing on essential oils.
